The flag of South Sudan has an aspect ratio of 1:2. It consists of five horizontal stripes and a blue equilateral triangle on the hoist side. The stripes are arranged in the following order from top to bottom: black, red, green, white, and blue. The widths of the stripes are proportional at 1:1:1:1:3.

The flag also features a gold, five-pointed star in the center of the blue triangle. The triangle's height is equal to half of the flag's width, and its base runs along the entire length of the hoist side.
