The flag of Barbados has an aspect ratio of 3:2. It consists of three vertical stripes and a central emblem. The left and right stripes are ultramarine blue (Pantone 286C) and the middle stripe is golden yellow (Pantone 116C). The width ratio of the stripes is 1:2:1.

In the center of the golden yellow stripe, there is a black trident head, also known as a broken trident. The trident's height is 0.8 times the width of the yellow stripe, and its width is 0.4 times the width of the yellow stripe. The top of the trident head is aligned with the flag's horizontal midpoint, while its bottom extends to a distance equal to 0.5 times the width of the yellow stripe from the bottom edge.
